FDNS vs. Lowe's HomeCare+, honestly

Lowe's launched HomeCare+ nationwide in March 2026 — $99 a year, two visits, seven tasks per visit. It's a fine product, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. It's also not the same product as ours.

The short version

HomeCare+ changes your filters twice a year. We inspect your whole home four times a year and write down what we find.

On price, Lowe's wins and it isn't close — $99 a year is a loss-leader from a national retailer, and no local contractor should claim to beat it. The comparison worth making is scope: what happens, who does it, and what you hold in your hand afterward.

The two differences that matter most

The record.A task list confirms chores happened. An inspection report documents your home's condition — dated, photographed, quarter after quarter. That record is what a buyer, a warranty company, or an insurance adjuster will actually accept as proof of upkeep. See what a report contains →

The escalation path. When a checklist visit meets a real problem — a corroding water heater, a cracking foundation corner, a soft spot on the roofline — the checklist ends. When an FDNS visit finds one, the licensed general contractor who found it writes it up, quotes it with your member discount, and can fix it — through full remodeling, concrete, and masonry if it comes to that. You never start over with a stranger.

HomeCare+ vs. FDNS FAQ

Is Lowe's HomeCare+ worth it?
At $99 a year for two visits of useful checklist tasks, honestly — yes, for what it is. Filters get changed, detector batteries get replaced, the dryer vent gets cleaned. If your alternative is none of that happening, HomeCare+ is better than nothing.
Then why would anyone pay more for a local plan?
Because the products do different jobs. HomeCare+ performs seven defined tasks twice a year. A whole-home plan inspects everything four times a year, catches developing problems (not just due filters), documents the home's condition in dated photo reports, and comes with a licensed contractor attached when something real is found.
What does HomeCare+ not cover?
It isn't an inspection and it isn't diagnostics — it's a task list. Nobody is evaluating your foundation, roofline, drainage, caulk, or the slow leak under the bathroom sink, and nobody writes you a report you could later hand to a buyer, warranty company, or insurance adjuster.
Can I have both?
Sure — they don't conflict. Some homeowners keep HomeCare+ for the store perks and use FDNS for the actual inspection, documentation, and repair path. If budget forces a choice, decide whether you need tasks done or your home looked after.
Who actually comes to my home with each?
HomeCare+ visits are performed by Lowe's store associates. FDNS visits are performed by the same local, licensed and insured contractor crew each quarter — the people you'd also call for the remodel.
